Hair Extension Care Guide
Caring for hair extensions properly ensures they remain beautiful, tangle-free, and reusable for months or even years. Here’s how to keep them in top condition:
1. Washing & Cleansing
- Use sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners to avoid stripping natural moisture
- Wash extensions no more than once a week (unless worn daily)
- Gently detangle before washing using a wide-tooth comb or fingers
- Avoid soaking or scrubbing—instead, use downward motions when cleansing
2. Moisturizing
- Deep condition regularly, especially for raw or virgin hair types
- Use lightweight leave-in conditioners for hydration without buildup
- Argan oil or coconut oil can help maintain softness and shine
3. Styling & Tools
- Use heat protectants before flat ironing, curling, or blow drying
- Avoid excessive heat styling—opt for low to medium settings
- Do not apply styling products containing alcohol or heavy silicone
4. Sleeping Routine
- Always tie or braid hair before bed to prevent tangling
- Sleep with a silk or satin bonnet or pillowcase to minimize friction
- For sewn-in extensions: secure in a loose ponytail or braid at night
5. Storage Tips (for clip-ins or temporary pieces)
- Store in a cool, dry place in a breathable bag or box
- Ensure hair is clean, fully dry, and detangled before storing
- Label textures and lengths to keep inventory organized
6. Maintenance & Longevity
- For installed extensions: schedule touch-ups every 6–8 weeks
- Avoid harsh chemical treatments such as coloring or perming unless the hair is verified virgin or raw
